TUNEL labelling of MCF-7 cells. Untreated and 3HFD-treated cells were labelled using the TUNEL assay to detect DNA fragmentation. (A) In untreated cells, no fluorescence was detected in the nucleus, as the cells were not apoptotic and did not exhibit DNA fragmentation. (B) to (F) MCF-7 cells were treated with 9 μg/ml 3HDF for 6, 12, 24, 48 or 72 hours, respectively. Cells exhibit DNA fragmentation and nuclear condensation, characteristic of apoptosis.
